Pretoria bus-drivers attack Afrikaner woman Lizette Potgieter, 41 and the ten-year-old son of Afrikaner dad Daniël Swart in two different incidents

Natalie Grobler writes on 5 March 2014: in the second reported assault by a Pretoria bus-driver, an Afrikaner woman of Mayville, Mrs LIzette Potgieter, 41, lodged a charge of assault against the driver of the Wonderboom 3 bus who manhandled her and initially refused her to get onto the 15h20 bus from Pretoria. Mrs Potgieter said she takes the bus regularly and has had problems with this same driver before. Last Wednesday apparently was a 'breaking point' for both parties, writes the journalist.
"I was waiting for the bus in Paul Kruger Street. When he pulled up he refused to open the doors for me. There was no reason for it so I got angry and forced the doors open. She climbed in, handing the R6 fare to the driver and moved to the back of the bus. The driver told her he "wouldn't accept the fare-money and ordered her to get off his bus."
Mrs Potgieter and the bus driver exchanged words and she then tried to take his picture so that she could report him to the city council.
"The driver pulled at my shoulder-bag strap and slapped the telephone so roughly from my hand that it fell a few metres away from me on the floor of the bus. He injured my hand."
Mrs Potgieter said there were a few passengers on the bus, amongst them school children who laughed about the incident.
She then repeatedly asked him to stop at the bus-stop where her husband always picks her up in his car so that she could climb down. He kept on driving, ignoring her. After her third request he stopped the bus a long distance away from the bus-stop she'd asked for. "I have never met such an arrogant and rude bus driver. My hand was bruised purple and blue after he hit it. I will never use the Pretoria city buses again', she said.
This is the second time in which a white Afrikaner has lodged formal charges against Pretoria bus-drivers for assaulting their white passengers.
Daniël Swart, the father of a ten-year-old boy, has also lodged a charge at the Pretoria North police station against a bus-driver who bashed his child in the face.
Swart said the city authorities 'are not going to take further steps against the driver but the case is still being investigated by the SAPS.'
The city council spokesman has not responded to Beeld's request for comment.
