Feb 23 2014 - "My brother P (40) his wife C (39)and three kids, (13,11,8) were attacked on the farm in Bushlands near Hluhluwe last night. While everybody else was asleep my brother watching TV downstairs heard a loud crash upstairs and ran up to see what it was. He ran into an intruder who immediately fired two shots both miraculously missing P and a short tussle followed until the intruder put the gun to P's head.
THE MOTHER WAS STABBED IN THE HANDS WITH SCISSORS: THE CHILDREN WERE DRAGGED FROM THEIR BEDS:
To cut a long story short C was stabbed in the hand with scissors and the kids were pulled out of bed.
They collected all communication devices and keys, they knew what they were doing.
THE EIGHT BLACK MEN DID NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS NO MONEY IN THE HOMESTEAD...
They were looking for a large amount of money they had info on and beat P up until knocking him out trying to get info of the whereabouts of the money which there is none of in the house.
Not believing him they grabbed M(8yrs old) and strangled him trying to get P to talk. M passed out and P thought he was dead.
All the time (THE GANG WAS) very aggressive threatening to kill and rape. P is fluent in Zulu and seemed to have a slight calming effect and the rest of family continued to pray aloud.
They then ransacked the house took what they wanted and loaded it in the farm Bakkie. Each family member was then tied up separately in rooms.
P managed to untie himself after making sure they had left.
-- Bakkie was recovered this morning with C's wallet and P's personal Land Rover keys. It looks like 4 intruders in the house and 4 outside. They seem to have walked in as kids noticed wet shoes so they probably crossed the river onto the farm.
Downstairs of the house has burglar bars and gates but they climbed up onto the balcony and smashed the bedroom window to gain entry.
Local reaction to the incident was very good and all we can be thankful for is that they are alive.
The crime scene is full of fingerprints and I believe that a SAPS team from Durban will handle as local SAPS cannot.
Andre this is what my boet has told but you can imagine there is a lot more detail and there could be some variances in his recollection."

She says in response to the attack on February 23 2014: "We lived in that (farm house in Hluhluwe) and were attacked twice, and had 3 failed attempts, they were also looking for a large sum of money and guns.
POLICE DID NOT ASSIST...
We did our own investigation as the police did not assist, paid out huge sums of money for information, had 6 out of the 8 arrested. Six months later they came back to kill and rape. One of the security guards who came to our aid was shot and killed.
We have all the names and ID's of those that attacked us, please inbox me if this will help. We have since emigrated to New Zealand."

An urgent call was issued on the internet after doctors reported that Mr Hassard's liver - damaged by a bullet - would not stop bleeding.

Peter-John Hassard shot, sustains liver-damage on Hluhluwe KZN farm in attack by 5 black male gunmen.
Hluhluwe, KZN - Peter-John Hassard, a young farmer of Silvasands Safaris near Hluhluwe, KZN - who is a son of ex-KZN rugby union president Peter Hassard - was attacked on Tuesday morning May 20 2013 on his farm and shot. He survived and fought back against the five black male attackers, reports a family friend.
Five black gunmen had held the workers on the farm at gunpoint - and PJ was attacked in the ambush by the gunmen when he went to fetch the workers in his farm-vehicle.
They also shot him once through his body and surgery later showed that the bullet had damaged his liver - however he was still able to resist and fought back - managing to take away one of their firearms.
The thugs then fled. And then the young farmer drove himself to a doctor despite his injury and upon arrival there was taken to a Richards Bay Hospital for treatment.
HIs sister Sandra Hassard-Trethewey reported that her brother was in a stabe condition, writing on Facebook: "PJ is out of theatre: his liver was damaged. Please keep him in your prayers he needs it.'
The local farming community have mounted a search party with the SAPS.
