19 Feb 2014 KwaZulu-Natal Three murder-suspects of Joe Harrold, 70, arrested in Greytown, KZN
"The Greytown SAPS members arrested three suspects aged 19 and 20 while they were still on the murder scene. The fourth suspect managed to evade arrest and fled the scene. The police are still looking for him and we appeal to the community members to give us information about his whereabouts so that he can be arrested and brought to book. Arrested suspects are due to appear in the Greytown Magistrates' Court soon facing murder and house robbery charges.
Yesterday, 18 February 2014 at about 10:18 the victim, Joe Harrold (70) was at his home when he was attacked by three suspects. It is suspected that the fourth suspect was waiting outside doing observation. The suspects allegedly tied the victim and demanded safe keys. While demanding safe keys, the suspects allegedly stabbed him several times on the body. Community members who suspected that there was something going wrong at the victim’s house, reported the matter to the police. Greytown police immediately responded to the complaint and caught three suspects in the house. The victim was already dead when the police arrived. It is suspected that the fourth suspect fled the scene after he saw the police.
Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni is delighted with the arrest of the suspects. The members will work around the clock to try and link them to other house robbery cases that were reported in the Greytown and the surrounding areas. She commended the community for the information they provided to the police that led to the arrest of the suspects. ‘Working together with the police is vital’, she added.

February 19 2014 The men were allegedly caught red-handed on Tuesday at the house of a man they had killed, said Captain Thulani Zwane. Three men allegedly attacked a 70-year-old man at his house while one of their accomplices kept watch outside the house. They tied him up, demanded safe keys, and he was stabbed several times. Community members in the area alerted police when they suspected something was amiss in the house. “Police immediately responded to the complaint and caught three suspects in the house,” said Zwane. The man who was outside the house managed to get away and police were searching for him. The arrested men, aged between 19 and 20, were expected to appear in the Greytown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, said Zwane. KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the community for informing the police.
