70-year-old farm-wife in horror attack: black male arrested.
LADYSMITH, Elandslaagte: Feb 14 2014 A man believed to be responsible for the vicious assault on an Elandslaagte farmer's wife on Friday (Valentine's Day) has been
caught. Both the farming community and Matiwaneskop residents have condemned the slow response by Elandslaagte police.
A farm in the Elandslaagte area was the scene of a vicious attack on Friday afternoon. The farmer’s wife noticed a man behaving suspiciously on the farm and contacted Elandslaagte police.
However, according to those who first responded, police had still not arrived at the scene.
When an SA Secure alarm was activated, K9 Unit officers and paramedics rushed out to the farm.
When they got there, they found that the woman had been viciously assaulted. She was rushed to a local hospital.
Police are hunting for suspects believed to be linked to the attack.
A case of assault and rape is being investigated.
The Elandslaagte farming community has expressed outrage at the attack.
The fact that the Elandslaagte Police Station had been called and they had not responded at all has angered local farmers.

" It is alleged that they were phoned before the horrid experience. Well done to those that responded so quickly. I hope this incident is not going to be just swepted under the carpet."
