For 4 days SAPS ignored emergency call from 74-year-old female farm owner who begged them for help: she was assaulted, raped and left for dead.

The chairman of TAU SA’s Safety committee, Mr Henry Geldenhuys, koms@tlu.co.za expressed his discontent with the lack of SAPD service in Utrecht, for three days they did not respond to a call for help of a 74 year old lady how begged them to help her.
An unknown man arrived on their farm near Utrecht 'to see the owner". The farm owner was not home and his wife locked herself in their home and called the SAPS, who is approximately 5km from the farm, for assistance. The intruder circled the house and smashed a window so he could gain access to the house. After he physical and sexually abused the 74 year old woman he left with her cell phone, R150 cash and the keys to their home.
It seems to be the norm these days that the SA Police Service renders ither poor or no service at all. This leaves the rural land owners desperate and in dismay, says Geldenhuys. The suspect has since been identified by the local farm worker community and an arrested has been made.
The handling of this incident will be monitored.
