The man was standing on the corner of Bakenkloof and Pagel Streets, waving his machete around. Van der Westhuizen said that when he confronted the berserker he was told: "I am going to cut you in peaces'. The man, described as being in his thirties with curly hair, then stormed towards the Van der Westhuizen father and son. Eye-witness Engela Murray said the man first tried to slice his machete into the son - but the dad jumped in and had his arm carved open. "There was an incredible amount of blood,' she said. Van der Westhuizen said he still smashed his fist into the attacker's face before he realized he'd been injured. Ms Murray immediately rushed to help him stem the flow of blood. Micky and his dad also sustained more slashing-wounds during the fracas before the man disappeared. The dad was rushed to the State hospital in Ga-Rankuwa where he was stitched up and recovered untill Wednesday. He's now at home. "I am still in horrendous pain, he told the journalist. He will launch a charge of assault at the Pretoria North police station, he said.
