Heatonville farmer Clive Curry survives farm attack by heavily-armed black males who had reconnoited his farm, poisoned his dogs -- By Fever Reporter - 2013-07-18 WELL-known Heatonville farmer Clive Curry was ‘lucky’ to walk away from a farm attack last Thursday with a flesh wound and severely damaged finger.
The Currys say they woke up at 5am in the morning with armed men standing on either side of their bed. Clive was allegedly shot as he tried to shove his attacker out the door.
Undeterred, Curry says he chased the men down the passage and ‘shoved them out the house’, slamming a glass door and shattering the glass in the process.
Empangeni Farm Watch and the police were on the scene quickly. They are following several leads but no arrests have been made yet.
Talking about the incident, Sharon Curry says she heard noises in the kitchen during the night, but could not see anything. However, she woke up at 5am with someone standing next to her bed. The intruder shone a flashlight in her eyes and told her to keep quiet.
She nudged Clive awake, and he opened his eyes to another attacker with a flashlight on his side of the bed. The man was armed and when Clive shoved him out the way, the intruder fired a shot.
Despite being wounded, Curry chased the men out of the house and they fled.
The Currys raised the alarm and Farmwatch was on the scene within minutes, followed shortly thereafter by the police. They iced the wounds on Clive’s stomach and left to meet Dr Andrè Naude, who also lives in Heatonville, for medical assistance.
The bullet only caused a flesh wound, but Curry had his hands in front of him when the shot was fired. His left-hand ring finger is badly injured and he was operated on late Thursday night.
Speaking from his hospital bed on Friday morning, Curry described his survival as ‘either a miracle or otherwise I’m just a cat with many lives’.
Sharon Curry only had praise for the police and their forensic teams who spent most of Thursday combing the area for evidence. The dog unit was also there, but they could only follow the spoor for a short distance.
They found that the attackers had put out poisoned meat to kill the farm dogs, but the SPCA was quick on the scene and gave the dogs charcoal to counteract the poison. Several farm cats were killed by the poison though.
Proof that the men spent a while in the Curry house was also found – they helped themselves to the left-overs from dinner and left food bowls all over the kitchen. The attackers had forced their way into the back of the house through a window, and then through several more locked doors.

Black marchers ANC-yl demand barring of all the White Students from NW university Potchefstroom
Black protestors demand that White Students No Longer Be Admitted to NW University Potchefstroom'
Potchefstroom University 'protest march' by ANC youth league targets whites, and is tinged with racialism - AfriForum Youth Marcus Pawson warns
20 July 2013 -- Marcus Pawson says NWU one of few universities where diversity and multilingualism are successfully promoted
AfriForum Youth requests meeting with ANCYL re march
AfriForum Youth today invited the ANCYL to a meeting to discuss a march organised by the organisation, the trade union NEHAWU and other pressure groups on the Potchefstroom campus of the North-West University (NWU). The march by the ANCYL and other organisations is contrary to the spirit of the Constitution and is an insult to minorities, AfriForum Youth said today.
The reasons for the protest march are allegedly the multilingualism policy of the NWU, the firing of a member of Sasco, Orapeleng Matshediso, from the Mafikeng SRC and labour disputes between the NWU and some of its employees. From conversations AfriForum Youth had with some members of the relevant parties, it appeared that they are of the opinion that white students should no longer be admitted to the NWU. They also believe that no whites should be employed further by the NWU. The ANCYL uses various reasons as a smokescreen for their unwillingness to accept diversity in South Africa," said Marcus Pawson, spokesperson for AfriForum Youth.
The NWU is one of the few universities where diversity and multilingualism are successfully promoted. One example is the use of Tswana in the training of future teachers in order to ensure that they will be able to teach in their first language. The NWU received recognition in 2010 for its contribution to multilingualism from PANSAT and is recognised as a superior training institution of teachers.
"The ANCYL, unions and other organisations taking part in the march, are showing their unwillingness to accept other communities in South Africa and declared an intolerance for diversity," Pawson said.
AfriForum Youth is hoping that a meeting will create a better understanding between the various communities within the NWU. "The reality is that students of the NWU are tolerant and respectful towards one another. Extremist organisations such as these are now trying to undermine good relationships for their own political gain," Pawson said.

Afrikaner rape-survivors Mandy van Tonder, Ina Bonette, Hettie Brittz and others compete 142km Go Purple bike ride, Vanderbijlpark
Three Afrikaner rape survivors, Mandy Van Tonder 18, Ina Bonnette and Hettie Brittz, participate in biking meet with other rape-survivors in Vanderbijlpark.
--------
Student-teacher Mandy Van Tonder, 18 who was gangraped three months ago --- ( by a group of black males who also so brutally beat a friend, Mark Horn, that they left him behind for dead) --- met other rape-survivors at the Go Purple campaign in Vanderbijlpark, Ina Bonnette and Hettie Brittz and others - where three female teams took turns to complete 142km rides.
'I cannot hide any longer,' said Mandy to a Naspers newspaper journalist. "I must get my life under control; it's time'. competed against each other in 142-
She's continuing her studies at the University of the Free State - she'd stopped temporarily to recover from her ordeal - made worse by the fact that the black males who caused her trauma, are still walking around in Bloemfontein.
The SAPS told her the 'case was cold' (after three months). She's almost certain that she saw one of 'her' rapists in a shop in town, and got a 'cold, sick feeling,' about it, she said.
The Go Purple campaign 'against rape and violence' is a venue where South Africa's many victims of rape can meet each other. Mandy said she spoke at length with rape-survivors such as Ina Bonnette and Hettie Brittz, and 'they inspired me'.
She's bitter about the fact the gang-rapists who traumatised her are still not in custody.
"This is holding me back. I am terrified they'll be back' she said.
SAPS sergeant Fikiswa Matoti confirmed that 'nobody was arrested, that the investigation continues'.
mandy and a friend Mark Horn, 22, also of Bloemfontein, were kidnapped on 18 April 2013 in Vistapark - Mark was viciously assaulted and left behind for dead, while the black men drove off with 18-year-old Mandy. She was 'raped several times,' writes the newspaper - and was rescued during the early-morning hours when members of an SAPS patrol 'saw her with the hijackers in the bakkie.'The cops chased the 'hijackers' and engaged in a firefight. During the chase the hijacked bakkie burst through a fence and crashed into a boulder. The 'hijackers' fled.
Mark said he was treated for his injuries at Pelonomi-Hospital. "I am still working through the trauma and get flash-backs. Generally I'm allright,' he told the newspaper.

jULY 22 2013 Andre Snyman writes: "The charges did not even get into the court roll. Ryan and L are speaking to our eblockwatch reporter for the papers tomorrow. Even the court Okay: " wanted a bribe to keep off the roll even when it wasn't going to be there. He wanted lunch money." (His son also was arrested for 'recording the incident of the police-harassment, which reportedly included a black policewoman screaming 'Mandela birthday viva...'
===================
Andre Snyman also reports that 'the video footage shows that this was not the case.' He adds: " The two video clips indicate that there also were justifiable resistance to being arrested (by the couple).
"Lukas writes" "The claim of urinating in public was never a charge on the charge sheet. Secondly the police officer who said she had proof of the incident, produces a wet spot on a smooth yellow wall.
"The wall in the back of the video is a Tuscany greenish wall. It made us wonder what the motive was and why the police would allow someone to do his business and then arrive to arrest him.
"Secondly. a round wet spot on a wall? If the person urinated against it the pattern should be different.. This seemed to be fabricated evidence. "Interestingly, the charge of urinating in public was only mentioned on the video, never again in any charge sheet (by the arresting police).Lukas, the father, writes: "We have the interesting scenario that someone is arrested for resisting arrest on a charge that was never brought up?
"Does this mean that police officers may arrest people at will and then if you reasonably resist, get arrested because you resist the arrest?"I did not hear one word of abuse on the video. The charge is crimea injuria?"My daughter was arrested for taking the video under the auspices she was "interfering in police work."
Somebody needs to police the police. "If they did everything right, why arrest her for interfering by filming the "arrest"? If they (the police) were doing everything perfect, the video should show that.
"This episode cost me 22 hours of my time and the legal fees. Is this fair given the competency levels observed?
Andre Snyman of eblockwatch writes: "While we wait google Drop box. This is what we use when we ask members to record arrests. This get the recorded arrest out of the phone and onto a server.
The police can not force our members to delete the footage."
Rudy Buys writes: " It (urinating in public) falls under public indecency. According to the Jhb Bylaws they can only fine you, but according to SA Law you may be arrested and charged."

Esmeralda Vermaak survives farm attack with injuries: Politsi SAPS says it's no farm attack
Mrs Esmeralda Vermaak fights back, survives farm attack: was stabbed, scratched and an eye blackened: Smitsrust farm Politsi Modjadjiskloof- SAPS says it's not 'a farm attack": no motive, nothing robbed... attacker beat Mrs Vermaak with a 'blunt object' he'd brought with him, suspected to be a screw driver:
-----------
22 July 2013 report: "The SAPS in Modjadjiskloof spokesman warrant officer Kgamedi Seshoka says the attack against Mrs Esmeralda Vermaak on the Smitsrust farm in Politsi ' is not classified as a farm attack but merely an assault'.
Mrs Vermaak was in the kitchen at 22h30 on their farm Smtisrust near Politsi, Modjadjiskloof on Tuesday when she heard scratching at the back and, thinking it was the family dog, opened it: to find a black man standing there who grabbed her by the throat. He scratching her neck and face - and while she was still fighting to push the backdoor closed against him, he bashed her twice over a leg 'with a blunt object'. She suspected it was a screwdriver. He tore her nightdress and robe during the assault while she was fighting to stop him from getting inside the homestead. "When I noticed he managed to push open the door I stepped back, and grabbed my three-year-old son Samuel, who was standing behind my legs, and threw him into the living room.
She had also been making tea and threw the assailtant with hot tea and rushed to their bedroom where her husband had just awakened and jumped up to find out what all the noise was about.
At that point the attacker fled - when he saw the Afrikaner farmer and their boerbull both charging towards him. The man jumped across the backwall with her husband, armed with a hockey-stick, in hot pursuit.
The police were called. The SAPS in Modjadjiskloof spokesman w/o Kgamedi Seshoka said this was 'not classified as a farm attack but merely as an assault: the reason for the attack is not known and the police are investigating'.
Mrs Vermaak said their car was not parked at the homestead at the time: it was away for a service. And she was making tea in the kitchen while the rest of the lights in the house were off.
"We suspect (the assaillant) may have believed nobody was at home'. Mrs Vermaak went to their doctor on Wednesday to get an injection against any possible infection she may have incurred and also took their son to have him examined for any trauma.

July 23 2013: July 23 2013: Businessman Bruce Galloway 59 (shareholder in Spar supermarkets, ex-chairman of SA Cane Growers Association) and chairman of Bruce Galloway Associates, was abducted 4am from outside Kloof KZN home. Car, personal belongings and mobile phone found in driveway. But he is missing. Posted around 13h00
July 23 2013 at 05:22pm By LAUREN ANTHONY Bruce Galloway with his wife, Les. Its suspected he was abducted from his Kloof home early Tuesday morning.
Durban - A search is on for a Kloof businessman, Bruce Galloway, 59, who appears to have been abducted from his home at about 4am on Tuesday.
Galloway, a shareholder in three Spar supermarkets, one based in Inanda and two in the Transkei, is believed to have left his home at about 4am to attend a meeting in the Transkei.
Police, private investigator Brad Nathanson and Enforce Security investigators were roped in to search for Galloway.
Talking to the Daily News from Galloway’s Kloof home, his son, Wayne, said his mother, Les, awoke at 7am to dogs barking.
“My mother was inside the house and, when she went outside, she saw my dad’s car in the driveway,” Wayne said.
The car appeared to have been abandoned along the 20m driveway.
The family discovered Bruce’s wallet in the car, and his glasses and cellphone in the bushes. Money had been taken from the wallet.
“The neighbours said they also heard dogs barking at about 4am.”
Wayne said that, although his dad did go to early meetings, it wasn’t “day specific”.
Police were at the scene and bank statements were being checked to determine where Bruce might have been taken.
“Nothing makes sense. Why take him? Everything is still here. The only thing I can think of is he traded himself to get them away from the house.”
Managing director of Spar KZN Rob Phillipson said he’d actually met Galloway on Monday and described him as a “pleasant chap”.
He confirmed Galloway had been with Spar for about five years.
Galloway is also a chartered accountant and a former sugar farmer.
“We are concerned and hope the authorities find him soon,” Phillipson said.
He said it was impossible to speculate as to why he had been taken, whether it was for personal or business reasons was as yet unknown.
According to an online farmer’s weekly report, Galloway headed the Bruce Galloway group – a large cane growing company near KwaDukuza.
He was also a former chairman and vice-chairman of SA Canegrowers.

The Star: "Foolish hijackers didn't notice cops-July 24 2013 -- "A trio of hijackers almost killed themselves and four of their victims in a high-speed chase yesterday after failing to notice a police car metres away from where they were committing the crime.
Jan King had been travelling tot he Johannesburg International Airport with three friends when the hijackers pounced.
A van pulled up next to him when he stopped his Toyota Prado on Ruven Road. It was then he noticed that the men in the car were all armed with R5 rifles and pistols, screaming at him.King told The Star he could not hear what they were saying through his closed window, but realised it wasn’t a joke when he saw their assortment of guns. Two of the men leapt from the vehicle to take the car by force, but rather than ordering King and his three passengers to get out of the car, all four were squashed into the backseat of the car as the two men jumped into the Prado’s passenger and driver’s seats. But it seemed as though these particular hijackers had little to no peripheral vision, as they didn’t realise a marked Joburg flying squad car was just a few metres away.Provincial police spokeswoman Captain Augustinah Selepe said the officers saw drivers in the cars just ahead of them screaming about the hijacking. Two of the officers jumped out and ran towards the Prado, while the third pursued them in his squad car as the other hijacker sped off in a different direction in his van.The man’s accomplices, who were in the hijacked Prado, then turned off Ruven Road into a one-way street, Barney Road, as they had by then realised that police were in pursuit. But the hijackers were travelling in the wrong direction: into oncoming traffic.Bystanders said they heard screeching as the heavily loaded Prado swerved to the left to avoid a silver Mercedes travelling the right way. But the Mercedes swerved to the right, with both cars careering towards the curb and hitting another Toyota, and the back of a massive truck – both parked on the side of the road. One of the hijackers managed to get out of the vehicle, and fled from the scene before police arrived. The other hijacker in the Prado was subsequently arrested.
The twisted, cracked front sections of the Mercedes, parked Toyota and Prado showed the huge force of the collision, but miraculously no one was hurt by the impact.
King said the entire incident took place in just a matter of minutes, and he was glad no one was injured and not a single bullet was fired.
Speaking to The Star, he said he was surprisingly calm about what had happened, but couldn’t speak for his three passengers, who
looked somewhat in shock as police investigated the scene.“But it looks like they’ve missed their flight,” King said.Selepe said police recovered an R5 rifle and a handgun from the car.The 40-year-old suspect will be appearing in court shortly, Selepe said. She said police would continue their hunt for the van used in the hijacking as well as the other suspect. One bullet to his chest and another to his right leg. That was all it took to apprehend an attempted hijacking suspect at the intersection of Ormonde Street and Cardogan Avenue in Mondeor on Monday night, said Wayne Minnaar, from the Joburg metropolitan police department (JMPD).The other suspect swiftly jumped out of the car and ran away, he added. The two robbers hijacked a white Ford Figo at gunpoint in Rosettenville.JMPD officers were alerted of the hijacking at about 9pm, and a chase ensued. Two suspects were intercepted along the Golden Highway, where they opened fire at the officers. The officers shot back and struck one suspect, with bullets hitting him in the chest and in a leg.The man was still under police guard at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital yesterday, and he will be charged with armed hijacking and possession of an illegal firearm. The man’s alleged accomplice was still at large.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=691014620925086&set=a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416&type=1&theater

Eight armed black males in police uniforms with marked cars attack Monia family Meyer Street Middelburg
Eight armed black males in police uniform attack the Monia family in Meyer Street, Middelburg South Africa 25 July 2013
A group of eight black men in Police uniforms and driving in MARKED SAPS vehicles attacked the home of Mr Muhammed Suliman Monia on Meyer STreet early Thursday morning July 25 2013. According to owner of the house, Mr Muhammed Suliman Monia, the men arrived outside his home in two white Golf GTi vehicles - one of them plastered with SAPS markings. They drove into the yard as soon as the electronic controlled gate was opened to allow a member of the household into the property.
“They banged on the door and said it was the Police. Just as the door was opened they barged their way into the house, claiming that they were searching for drugs and received a tip-off that we’re money laundering. It was outrageous,” said Mr Monia. They were tied up with cable ties as the suspects ransacked the household, searching for any items of value. They stole mostly electronic items, including laptops. The CCTV systems was entirely disconnected, and the recording was also stolen.“The men were professionals. They carried themselves very expertly and knew what they were looking for. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were really Policemen. They were fearless,” said Mr Monia. At the time of going to print, Middelburg SAPS detectives were on the scene taking statements and looking for clues. http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/middelburg/middelburg-mobile-news?oid=7648587&sn=Mobile-Detail&pid=4979984&Armed--policemen--rob-household

Noel and Alta McSeveney 's attacker set free due to SAPS bungling
See link https://afriforum.co.za/plaasaanval-saak-van-hofrol-geskrap-weens-polisienalatigheid/
An armed attacker was wounded by his intended target and his accomplice killed during a vehicle robbery in Malalane, Mpumalanga during June 2013. He has now been released due to bungling of the case by the SAPS.
The man was released on Monday, 22 July 2013. A contributing factor in the process appeared to involve the language that the victim used to make his statement after the incident. The victim, Mr Mcseveney was in ICU at the time, himself having been shot during the attack. He made his statement in Afrikaans and the prosecutor refused to consider it as a result.

Twin sisters terrorised by SAPS at Douglasdale, reports Eblockwatch
Eblockwatch : twin sisters terrorised by SAPS at Douglasdale --"Andre Snyman 12:31pm Jul 25 writes: "Jean is the CPF chairperson at Douglasdale Police Station. We have worked closely over the years. .Good day Jean T H Berdou. I hope that you are well. Please could you investigate what happened here and come back to us on this page. We believe that your police officers at Douglasdale frightened the life out of two twin sisters. We have a recording of the incident. I would like you to handle this case as I am starting to look like a cop hater by a few of my members. Thank you to your officers at your police station who assisted eblockwatch arresting those two corrupt police officers last year. "My twin sister and I were driving back from looking for my son, who had gone out, yet wasnt responding to my sms's or calls. Driving along Witkoppen road we were flashed by a police vehicle to pull over (reg no:BSY 319 . We didnt have any drivers license on us, as it was 11:30pm and on hearing that my son was not with his friends..... i panicked and we just rushed off. The officer came to the window and asked what we were doing while his collegue waited by the police van..... i explained and pointed out that we were in our pj's and slippers. We asked what we did and he said he wasnt happy with our driving as we didnt indicate on turning(which is hard when witkoppen is a straight road so no turning happened) On hearing we didnt have a license on us, he said we must get out the car. I told him we would not and he must just write us a ticket. He started to laugh.... and again insisted that we get out the car. I took my phone, and said if he didnt just give us a ticket id phone a lawyer.... which i dont have! Again this was humerous to him. So my sister decided to drive to douglasdale police station as we thought that to be a safe place. The 2 policemen followed us very slowly and from a distance. We arrived at the police station and parked in the parking lot. The police vehicle drove in and parked us in so we could not reverse...... i knew we had driven straight into the lion's den. I phoned my father and asked him to come help us and told my sister to lock the doors and wait inside the car for our dad.
SURROUNDED BY FOUR POLICE OFFICERS AT DOUGLASDALE POLICE STATION: The recording is what happened after we were surrounded by 4 police officers, pictures taken of us, told we were resisting arrest and that they were going to break the window. We tell our kids to go to the nearest police station for help, i will never advise that again. After an agonising wait for my dad, once he arrived we all pretended he was our attorney and the officer who pulled us over had to go into the station to get a ticket book, and handed my dad a R500 ticket.
"So i ask this.... if we had gotten out our car, what would they have done to us when they were swearing and insulting us." I will NEVER go to any police for assistance again. Regards, Kirsty

Swart family survives attack by 3 black males inside their Model Park, Springs home: injuries: only a cellphone supposedly robbed
Swart family survives attack by 3 black males inside Model Park Springs home, with injuries
Intussen het ’n vrouestem buite gegil ‘Call the police!’.
“Ek is net bekommerd oor my seuntjie. Hy het die vorige aand wakker geword en bloumoord geskree. Dit kan wees dat dit wat gebeur het nog by hom spook,” het Mandie vertel.
Net ’n selfoon is gebuit. Witbank Polisie ondersoek die saak. http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/emalahleni-witbank/emalahleni-witbank-news-crime?oid=7645785&sn=Detail&pid=4730353&Gesin-in-huis-aangeval

Police reservist, Alberton CPF member Nicky Klopper shot dead, execution style
Jul 25 Murder in New Redruth Resident Nicky Klopper, member of CPF Alberton: shot and killed in his home.
25 July 2013 | Jeanrique Snyman Heart-wrenching sobs could be heard outside the home of Nicky Klopper as the daughters he leaves behind heard the news that he had been murdered.
His body was discovered by reaction officers from Fox Security and CPS at 09:24, who responded to reports that the gates of his home in Camborne Street, New Redruth were open.
This was strange behaviour for Klopper, who was a police reservist and active member of Alberton CPF.
The two reaction officers found Klopper dead in front of his safe upon entering his home. The safe had been opened and emptied, with a lone .303 calibre firearm left behind by the perpetrators.
He had been shot through the stomach.A neighbour saw Klopper in his front garden earlier the same morning. With no signs of forced entry, it appears as if the victim knew the suspects, who are still at large.

Collapse of South African military bases causes concerns in security circles
Military bases collapsing
MPs see shocking decay, decline
Erika Gibson Friday, June 7, 2013
The Air Force just two technicians at the Central Flying School in Langebaan in the Western Cape that can repair aircraft. One of them also have only three months experience.
This affects the base's ability to keep aircraft serviceability and thereby help the Air Force achieve its strategic objectives.
This came to light when the parliamentary portfolio committee on defense recently visited Langebaanweg and air force Durban, Bloemspruit (in the Free State), Hoedspruit and Makhado.
The effects of a shrinking air force, especially the suspension of the technical service contract for aircraft maintenance with Denel, is clear from the committee's findings.
The contract was canceled in 2012 and all but a handful of technical specialists were retained.
According to the report, the "dysfunctional" relationship with the Department of Public Works (DPW), which is responsible for the maintenance and replacement of military buildings is the other reason for the "shocking decay and degradation."
So the staff at AFB Hoedspruit go without air conditioning in the offices because the existing equipment is too old to function properly.
It costs more to maintain than the Air Force can afford while the PWD is responsible for its replacement.
The surrounding communities' water consumption also leads to the air base's personnel being chronically without water.
The recent floods in the area of the damaged buildings, with roads and a bridge to the base was washed away. The air force personnel and the community had to combine to have the bridge repaired and the holes in the road filled.
Only 41% of the base's vehicles are serviceable.
The decommissioning of the Denel contract on this basis leads to its aircraft being lost as a strategic asset for the country as specialist maintenance is no longer possible.
The AFB Makhado power station is out of order and the DPW cannot say when it will work again. It exploded earlier this year because of lack of maintenance. Since then the base had to use its low operating budget to pay of R50 000 per day to use generators for the base and keep the neighborhood going.
This affects the operation of aircraft seriously detrimental because both are served by the same budget.
Only 39% of the base's vehicles are serviceable.
The air base in Durban is dilapidated because they have waited eight years for permission to move the base to the new King Shaka Airport. Meanwhile, no maintenance is authorized.
Meanwhile, the aircraft housed 60 km from the "old" basis at King Shaka, with support available at the old base.
The sickbay does not even have an ambulance to transport sick.
David Maynier, DA MP, said the heroic efforts of some base commanders are hampered by the clumsy DOW. "To catch up with the R13bn backlog in infrastructure maintenance, control has to be returned to the military."
